David McKenzie, an Operatic Tenor and Music Theatre performer based in Sydney, Australia. Winner of two Joan Sutherland Awards.
He recently created several roles in world premier seasons of contemporary opera including Elana Kats-Churnin’s Iphis, Andrew Schultz’ Black River, Martin Wesley-Smith’s Quito and Colin Bright’s Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior.
David has performed at the Sydney Opera House along side artists such as Emma Mathews, Roxanne Hislop and Andrea Boccelli for Opera Australia, Sydney Metropolitan Opera, The Australian Tenors and International a Capella ensemble The song Company, with whom he has released eight CD recordings including Swanengesang which won the Naxos Classical Music album of the year.
Equally comfortable singing Don Jose in opera Australia’s Carmen or Ubaldo Piangi in Phantom of the Opera, David’s trademark passion and versatility have thrilled audiences around the world for over twenty years.
